Our Chocolate-stuffed French Toast might sound indulgent, but it’s actually packed with nutrients and makes the perfect low-carb breakfast. Go treat yourself, you deserve it…
Serves: 2
1 large egg
50 ml double cream
ΒΌ tsp ground cinnamon
4 slices LivLife bread
20 g butter
40 g dark chocolate (85% cocoa solids), chopped
zero-sugar hazelnut syrup, to serve (optional)
whipped cream, to serve (optional)
- Beat the egg, cream and cinnamon together in a wide shallow bowl. Coat the bread in the mixture, making sure itβs completely covered.
- Heat the butter in a large frying pan until sizzling, then lay two slices of bread side by side. Top with the chocolate, then add the other two slices on top. Fry over a medium heat for 2 minutes or until golden brown, then carefully flip over and fry for another 2 minutes.
- Transfer the French toast to warm plates and serve immediately, with or without hazelnut syrup and whipped cream.
